THE PUBLICATION

Editorial method and sources

A good explanation makes its evidence visible and leaves room for the questions it cannot answer.

Primary sources first

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Federal Trade Commission guidance support general consumer-rights and credit-report explanations. Model-owner sources such as myFICO support statements about their own scoring methods. We link relevant sources in articles and describe their support in each source list. A commercial model owner’s explanation is not an endorsement of its paid services.

Original editorial work

Our step-by-step review methods, private-note examples and fictional scenarios organize the subject around a reader’s next decision. They are not testimonials, customer case studies or evidence of personal access to financial accounts. No expert reviewer or professional credential is implied unless specifically identified and verified.

Dates and uncertainty

A source-check date records a review of public material. It does not guarantee that a law, provider policy or web page remains unchanged. Model differences and reporting dates matter. We avoid promises of a particular score, fixed point increase, deletion, approval or recovery timetable.

Corrections and independence

Send the relevant passage and a supporting public-source link through tom1si@gmail.com. The About page identifies the publisher. Funding or relationship disclosures, when provided, are stated directly rather than disguised as editorial credentials.

Read the scope and disclaimer before using general education in an individual financial decision.
